Google Down ou services très lent durant plusieurs heures

Comme de nombreuses personnes ont pu le remarquer Google était Down ou très lent durant cette journée du jeudi 14 mai. Ce qui semble être un problème mondial à été reconnu par Google et on attend d’avantages d’informations sur les raisons des problèmes rencontrés.

We’ve been hearing reports all morning of outages across the Googleverse, and while no one at Lifehacker HQ has been affected, that doesn’t mean no one else has. Google’s App Status Dashboard is showing that Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Sites have all had issues today, but we’ve received reports that Google News and even Google Search have had their problems. Elsewhere, Twitter’s full of #googlefail complaints, and ZDNet has a close analysis of what’s been going on. It’s never easy to tell how many of our readers are affected by these outages, so for curiosity’s sake, here’s a quick poll:

Google ajout d’options de recherche

Google vient tout juste de lancer de nouvelles options de recherche à son moteur (pour l’instant sur la version .com mais bientôt étendues aux versions locales). Parmi ces options la possibilité d’obtenir une visualisation graphique des liens entre différentes thématiques, la possibilité de ciblé certaines catégories d’articles (les tests de matériel par exemple) ou encore une option de selection de la période de création de l’article.

The Google improvements we saw unofficially opened to some users about two months ago have gone official, letting searchers see timelines and “Wonder Wheels,” filter for recent results, and seek out forums and reviews.

Google’s honchos unveiled the new “Search Options” at a Searchology event, one that coincides with the two year anniversary of the Universal Search unveiling that put brief looks at images, news, and other Google-powered search results on the main page. The new Search Options, along with richer “snippets” underneath results that can show reviews and specially-formatted information, should start showing up for most users immediately, but further down the line are more interesting experiments.

Google Squared will show up on users’ Google Labs pages later this month. What is it, exactly? Well, Google’s VP for Search Products says:

Unlike a normal search engine, Google Squared doesn’t find webpages about your topic - instead, it automatically fetches and organizes facts from across the Internet. We’ll be opening it up to users later this month on Google Labs.

Vidéo d’un Jetpack qui fonctionne

Vous avez toujours voulu ressemblez à James Bond et son fameux Jetpack ? Ce type a réussi a faire un jetpack qui fonctionne, bon il est très imposant et pour l’instant il le test en volant à tout juste un mètre du sol mais c’est prometteur.

If previous videos of the Martin Jetpack have left you wanting more, here’s more. It’s a minute and a half controlled float inside an empty warehouse. Sure, the guy’s only a foot or two off the ground but I’d still really love to take one of these things for a spin.

According to OhGizmo!, “The Martin Jetpack is capable of 30 minutes of flight at 60 mph” and can go a distance of 8,000 feet. Apparently the company will ship the first ten units this year at a cost of $100,000 each, so start saving up if you’re keen on being the only person at work who arrives via jetpack.

It’s May 7th, and Rockstar has graciously released the first trailer for Red Dead Redemption to everyone who didn’t already get it two days ago.

IGN was allowed to post the Red Dead Redemption trailer a few days early, which is a common sort of occurance but still makes Rockstar’s releasing the trailer today a great deal less exciting. Once something hits the internet, it belongs to the internet. Still, early posting doesn’t make the trailer any less impressive, especially considering it’s composed entirely of actual gameplay footage, so we figured we post it for the five or six of you who didn’t catch it via one of the many different places it has appeared between then and now.

Un employé de TF1 viré à cause de la loi Hadopi

Un employé de TF1 a été viré pour avoir exprimé son opinion personnel sur la loi Hadopi par email à un élu, qui a ensuite été transféré au ministère de la Culture puis est revenu aux dirigeants de TF1…

C’est sur le site Ecrans de Libé qu’on apprend cette histoire assez folle. Je ne sais pas si c’est véridique ou pas mais ça fait plutôt peur ! Aller, je suis une grosse feignasse et je cite :

“C’est le premier martyr d’Hadopi. Cet homme de 31 ans, Jérôme Bourreau-Guggenheim, responsable du pôle innovation web de TF1, a été, selon nos informations, licencié pour avoir critiqué le projet de loi Création et Internet. Allons bon. Mais il y a mieux : si Jérôme Bourreau-Guggenheim a été viré par la Une, c’est suite à une dénonciation du… ministère de la Culture dont l’hôte, Christine Albanel, est l’artisan de la fameuse loi qui doit réprimer le téléchargement illégal. Mais la chaîne qui a abouti au licenciement ne serait pas complète sans mentionner la députée UMP de Paris Françoise de Panafieu : c’est auprès d’elle que, par mail, Jérôme Bourreau-Guggenheim s’est ouvert de ses critiques envers Hadopi. Critiques transmises au ministère de la Culture qui les a transmises à TF1. Résultat : à la porte.”

Attendons d’en savoir plus avant de critiquer à tout va mais quand même !

Bien malgré lui visiblement, puisque des petits malins ont eu l’occasion de mettre la main sur une série de captures d’écran du service, nous permettant ainsi de nous faire une idée plus précise de ce qui nous attend. Ah, et apparemment, l’installatin des applications disponibles dans le Store devrait être franchement simple. Voilà de quoi nous rassurer !
